Sustainable development goals (SDG)
are a set of 17 global objectives that aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. They were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 and are based on the principle of leaving no one behind.
Some of the goals include
- No poverty: Eradicating extreme poverty and reducing inequality for all people, especially the most vulnerable.
- Zero hunger: Achieving food security and improving nutrition for all, while promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing food waste.
- Quality education: Ensuring inclusive and equitable education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, especially girls and women.
- Climate action: Taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, while supporting low-carbon development and adaptation.
- Peace, justice, and strong institutions: Promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, providing access to justice for all and building effective and accountable institutions.
These goals are interconnected and require collective action from governments, civil society, private sector, academia, and individuals. Everyone can contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals by raising awareness, acting, and holding leaders accountable
